School Schedule

School Schedule and Events at John Baker

Meet Your Teacher : August 11th, 12:30-2:00pm

Before school can begin, you and your children need to meet their teachers. Come out to John Baker to get to know them, get familiar with the new rooms, and fill their desks with the necessary supplies. Kindergarten parents will sign up with their teachers for a personal meeting that will occur prior to their first day of school. This will be the first opportunity of the new school year to meet the PTO officers, and get initial information on the rest of the events for the year. We look forward to seeing you at this event.

First Day of school for 1st-5th graders:   August 14th

Boo-Hoo Breakfast: August 16th, 7:45am (first day of school for Kinders)

It's hard to let go of our little ones! This event is designed to help us biggies let go and let our children start their adventure into Kindergarten. As parents you can attend breakfast with your child. The PTO provides breakfast muffins and drinks to parents and students. After finishing your snack, your child's teacher will call on the students to line up and head to class. Parents will remain in the cafeteria to be introduced to all the pertinent John Baker staff and PTO board members.

Curriculum Night : August 24th, 5:30 - 7:30pm

Come out to John Baker this evening to see your child\\\'s classroom and learn about how they learn. The PTO will likely have a staffed table so you can stop by and meet us, as well as sign up for volunteering opportunities.

As members of the John Baker community, every year we continue to honor John Baker through this family friendly event. Kindergarten through 2nd grade students will walk/run around the grass (about 1/8 mile) at Hoover field (just west of John Baker). The older kids will run/walk laps on the dirt track (about 1/5 mile) at Hoover field. Prior to the event children will come home with pledge sheets, asking for flat-fee donations or per-lap donations. The PTO members will seek out sponsors for the Jog-a-thon shirt.  Through their efforts the PTO will be able to raise funds for school needs. 100% of the money raised through this event stays at John Baker. This is a great event to attend with your child. You can walk/run with them, cheer them on, or help man the water table to make sure everybody stays hydrated.
